Deputy Minister of Education and Science


Mr. Petar Nikolov, PhD was born in 1979 in Sofia. He graduated from secondary education at the National School for Ancient Languages and Cultures ‘St. Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher’, City of Sofia. He has  a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in political management from the University of Sofia ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’. He was awarded a PhD in History from the New Bulgarian University.

Since 2010 he is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the New Bulgarian University. From 2015 to 2017, he is the editor-in-chief of Conservative Quarterly, a theoretical magazine for  politics and culture. In the period 2014-2017 he served as a Parliamentary secretary of the Council of Ministers in the second term of the government with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

The scientific interests of Mr. Petar Nikolov, PhD are focused mainly on medieval Bulgarian history, political philosophy, and the history of political ideas. He is the author of four monographs: The Genesis of the Bulgarian Conservatism (2011), The House of Sratsimir (2012), The True Story of the Principality of Vidin (2014), and The Political Conservatism (2017, in co-authorship with Ms Irena Todorova, PhD).
