- assists the Minister in implementing the state policy on knowledge books, textbooks, teaching aids, information and documents in the pre-school and school education system;
- is responsible for the activities related to the assessment and approval of knowledge books, textbooks and school kits;
- is responsible for the provision and distribution of knowledge books, textbooks and school kits, which are free of charge for children and pupils;
- is responsible for activities relating to the provision of documents for institutions in the pre-school and school education system and vocational training institutions;
- organizes the maintenance of the national electronic information system for pre-school and school education and maintains an electronic archive of information and documents in electronic format in the pre-school and school education system;
- is responsible for the application of the regulatory acts relating to knowledge books, textbooks, school kits and documents in the pre-school and school education system;
- assists the activity of ascertaining the authenticity of the documents, issued by the schools;
- develops and is responsible for the introduction and implementation of the state education standards for the information and documents, as well as for the knowledge books, textbooks and teaching aids;
- participates in the development and management of national projects and programs related to the assessment, approval and distribution of knowledge books, textbooks, school kits and school documentation;
- is responsible for the elaboration, updating and application of the regulatory acts and the individual and general administrative acts, related to its functional expertise;
- participates in the synchronization of national legislation with the European Union acts relating to its functional expertise.
